Mammograms are the frontline scan for detecting breast cancer early, which is key to successful treatment. We offer a suite of breast imaging services including screening and diagnostic mammograms that provide you and your medical provider with highly accurate images for monitoring and protecting your breast health.
Our walk-in mammography service makes screening mammograms easy, typically taking just 15 minutes. Although you do not need an order from your healthcare provider for a screening, we will need your provider’s information to send your results. We offer this service all day at our North Reserve and Stevensville clinics. Walk-ins are welcome at our Main Center on South Avenue from 7:30-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.
We use the latest in 3D digital mammography equipment, providing state-of-the-art imaging of breast tissue and the chest wall, with lower radiation and shorter exam times. This means less compression time and discomfort for you.
In addition to bringing all the advantages of 3D digital technology to your mammogram, our radiologists “double-read” your scans by also using CAD or computer aided diagnosis, which is a computer program designed to evaluate mammograms.
Tumors and dense breast tissue both appear white on mammograms, which can make detecting a tumor more challenging. Because of that we also offer ABUS, or automated breast ultrasound system, which uses 3D ultrasound technology that provides clearer images through dense breast tissue, making it easier to see potential tumors.
Your prep for ABUS is similar to that for a standard mammogram. However for this procedure, instead of standing you lie on an exam table. An ultrasound transducer — it looks a bit like a clear plate — is applied with gentle pressure. A full exam typically takes 15 to 20 minutes.
